(Norman, OK) – Tom Cole released the following statement upon winning the November 6th general election:
I would like to thank the voters of the Fourth District for their vote of confidence and continued support. It is a great honor to represent them in Congress. I am especially grateful to have receive 63% of the vote in a tough election cycle.
I also congratulate my two opponents for waging spirited and principled campaigns. We all gain when the voters have a choice, and in the 4th District they did.
The past two years have seen important Republican victories like historic tax cuts and major regulatory reform that have fueled economic growth and created jobs. But the past two years have also had significant bipartisan accomplishments on combating the scourge of the opioid crisis, dramatic increases for National Institutes of Health funding, and the largest effort to combat human trafficking in history. We have also seen a return to the regular appropriations process that has resulted in major increases in funding for the military and for important priorities of mine like Alzheimer’s research funding, support for early childhood education, and higher education priorities like TRIO and Gear Up. I am proud those were accomplished by the Appropriations Subcommittee I chair.
I look forward to coming together with my colleagues from both sides of the aisle to continue this important work.
Once again, I would like to thank the voters of the Fourth District for electing me as their representative.
