Norman, OK – Oklahoma Fourth District Congressman Tom Cole provided the following statement earlier today."I have been humbled by the number of people who have encouraged me to run for Governor. I love Oklahoma and our people and I know it would be an honor and a privilege to serve them in our state's highest office."
"But I also am very honored to serve the citizens of Oklahoma in the U.S. House of Representatives. More importantly, I believe the most significant challenges facing Oklahoma, indeed the entire country, are federal in nature. Getting the economy back on track, maintaining a strong national defense, securing our borders, protecting our constitutional rights, keeping taxes low and addressing the looming crisis in entitlements must be our national priorities. And I believe I am in the strongest position to effectively look after Oklahoma's interests by remaining in the House."
"I believe 2010 is going to be a strong year for Oklahoma Republicans. My decision was made easier by the knowledge that our party has no shortage of strong, talented leaders who can not only wage a successful campaign, but more importantly, who can govern our state wisely in what will surely be challenging times."
"I look forward to working with our Congressional delegation, as well as our current and future state leadership, to improve the lives and secure the future for Oklahoma's families."
